DAILY DOSE OF CUTE.

Lately, we've found ourselves pining away for a German giant rabbit such as Herman.
We'll settle for our 2 foot Labbit (coming in August!) for now.

QUICK PIX.

Geisha Boombox, spraypaint + acrylic on canvas, ($200)

New work from Mike Tyau on display.  Love love love.  Our quick pix does not do it justice.  Make sure you come see it!

CATCH OF THE WEEK: Favourite classic of ours, Matcha (Green Tea).  Surprise to be revealed on Wednesday.

HOW TO SPEND YOUR SATURDAY AFTERNOON.

Arm yourself with a school of corn dog taiyaki...

Score food colouring, a pair of disposable chopsticks, and string from the taiyaki-ya you're hanging out in.

Borrow a pair of scissors instead of the taiyaki-ya's rubber mallet.

Success!  After a few hours, you will have built a very, very fancy model taiyaki stand.

J. was really awesome + spent his Saturday afternoon building a model taiyaki stand for the shop.  We thought it'd only take him an hour or so, but it turns out it took him quite a few hours as the kit was much more complex than we thought it'd be.  We plied J. with corn dog taiyaki, and he laboured intently (managing to dye his hands red in the process) until we had our very own model taiyaki stand complete with signage, taiyaki replica, and play customers.  =)

CATCH OF THE WEEK: M. wanted Red Velvet for his birthday this week -- this request was a bit tricky to translate into taiyaki format, but we finally settled on a cheesecake filling with a red velvet batter (8th type!).

MACGYVER.

Currently powering our credit card processing terminal with a car charger, motorcycle battery, some wires, and whole lot of hoping and praying.

The above photo is further proof that Sweet Breams is not a crazy scary big-box corporation or trendy franchised fad business idea -- as if the hand punching/hand stamping each and every school box and half school bag wasn't already a dead giveaway.  =)

We're not doing this to get rich, to steal your first born, or to take over the world (okay, a not so small part of us wouldn't mind taking over the world).  We're just your average local kids doing our damnedest to make this ship float, armed with adventurous spirits, "what if" and "can do" kinds of attitudes, lots of elbow grease, and the willingness to work on very, very little sleep.

We possibly jinxed ourselves a couple of weeks ago by telling C. and J. that we thought we had gotten things FINALLY under control after two years, that things had really mellowed out -- and instead, it turns out that the few weeks have been some of our toughest and roughest times.  But you know what?  We got through it, and we got through it because of you.

We do this all for you guys, our customers, who are now our good friends, who we would have never met, had we not been silly enough to board this insane roller coaster ride two years ago.   Had we known exactly how hard this journey would have been, we think we have stayed in the safety of our cubicles, but now that we're two years older and wiser, we don't think we would trade this experience for anything.

UNTITLED.

New work by the extremely talented Mike Tyau.  "Untitled" ($200 SOLD)graced our wall Saturday evening, and like so many of Mike's paintings, it found a new home only a few days later.  We managed to snap this photo before its new owner took the painting home today, and this quick pix doesn't do the painting justice.  We promise to post a photo of "Sunrise" ($180 SOLD) soon too.

#498.

S. sent us a link to Things We Forget today.  Love this project -- impressed by the urban street art scene in Singapore of all places.  Found many truths in TWF's messaging.

CATCH OF THE WEEK: Third savoury taiyaki of the year for M.'s birthday -- Corn Dog. Who's going to do the taiyaki sundae? =)

YOU'VE GOT A FRIEND IN ME.

Managed to sneak a quick pix of Macro whilst tagging along with him to watch Toy Story 3 in 3D.  We think O Totoro stole the movie!

CATCH OF THE WEEK: Peanut Butter + Banana. It's a classic favourite of ours.
